What is on this page:

Before you quote a trucking risk, you want the full picture. A truck carrier report puts it on one page: who the carrier is, how safely they run, what they have hit, what the roadside inspections found, and what equipment is actually on the road. The agent who walks into the call holding that dossier controls the conversation. The agent who skims SAFER for thirty seconds does not.

This page covers what goes into a carrier report, how PollyAI's PollyIQ Report works, and where it fits next to the CAB reports your underwriters already know.

What is a truck carrier report?

Definition

A truck carrier report is a single-document summary of a motor carrier's public FMCSA record, identified by USDOT number: authority status, safety performance, crash history, inspection results, violations, and equipment.

Insurance agents pull carrier reports to qualify a prospect before the first call and to brief underwriters on submissions. The underlying data is public record. The value is in how fast you can assemble it, how current it is, and whether you can hand it to someone else in a form they can actually read.

What is inside a PollyIQ Report

The PollyIQ Report is PollyAI's carrier dossier, introduced in the v1.3 release. Open any carrier and the report assembles itself from the live FMCSA record. Every report includes:

Authority status and safety scores

Active or inactive authority, operating profile, and the carrier's safety performance at a glance. The first screen of every report answers "should I even be quoting this risk."

Crash summary with severity

At-a-glance crash totals and severity sit at the top of the report. You see the loss picture before you price the risk, not after the carrier mentions it on the call.

Inspection citations, violation by violation

Drill into the specific citations behind each roadside inspection instead of guessing from a summary score. Brake violations read differently than paperwork violations, and your underwriter knows it.

24 months of roadside activity

Two full years of inspections and out-of-service events, at both the driver and vehicle level. Enough history to see a pattern, not just an incident.

VIN-decoded equipment

Every tractor that appears in a roadside record, decoded into Year, Make, and Model. You know whether the fleet runs 2024 Freightliners or 2009 anything before you walk in.

One URL, print-ready

The whole dossier lives at a single link you can send to an underwriter or print for the meeting. No screenshots, no copy-paste decks, no "see attached spreadsheet."

What is a CAB report?

If you write trucking insurance, your underwriters talk about CAB reports. CAB is the Central Analysis Bureau, a subscription service that compiles motor carrier data for risk evaluation, and its reports are a long-standing standard in trucking insurance underwriting.

PollyIQ is not a CAB subscription, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Where PollyIQ fits is the work that happens before and around underwriting: qualifying a prospect in the sixty seconds before a cold call, deciding which of the morning's new authorities deserve a quote, and packaging the public-record picture into something an underwriter can open from one link. It is generated from the current FMCSA record at the moment you open it, and it is included with the platform subscription you already use for DOT leads and outreach, not sold as a separate per-report product.

Plenty of agencies use both: CAB where the underwriting desk requires it, PollyIQ for the daily prospecting motion where speed matters more than ceremony.

PollyIQ vs the old ways of checking a carrier

Most agents check carriers one of two ways today: a manual crawl through FMCSA SAFER and SMS, or a formal underwriting report ordered through a separate subscription. Here is how the three approaches compare on the parts that matter for prospecting:

Two ways agents use carrier reports

1. The pre-call dossier

You found the carrier this morning as one of the day's new authority leads. Before you dial, you open the PollyIQ Report: two power units, clean inspections, a 2022 and a 2023 tractor, authority granted nine days ago. Now the call opens with "congratulations on the new authority" instead of "so tell me about your operation," and the carrier hears someone who did the homework.

2. The underwriter submission

Your submission email carries one link instead of four screenshots. The underwriter opens the report, sees the crash summary and the citation detail in one view, and asks you two questions instead of nine. Faster answers, faster quotes, and a reputation as the agent whose submissions are easy to work.

Pricing

PollyIQ Reports are included with a PollyAI subscription. The platform is $39 per month, and state bundles are $40 per month per state, covering full FMCSA census data for every carrier in that state. There is no per-report charge and no demo gate. The pricing page has the current numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What is a truck carrier report?

A single-document summary of a motor carrier's public FMCSA record: authority status, safety performance, crash history, inspection results, and equipment. Agents pull one before a sales call and attach one to underwriter submissions.

What is a CAB report?

A carrier analysis report from the Central Analysis Bureau, a subscription service widely used in trucking insurance underwriting. PollyIQ Reports cover the public FMCSA record and are included with PollyAI, built for daily prospecting and submissions rather than as a separate underwriting subscription.

What is in a PollyIQ carrier report?

Authority status and operating profile, safety scores, a crash summary with severity, the citations behind each inspection, 24 months of roadside activity, and VIN-decoded equipment, all print-ready at a single URL.

How current is the data?

The report is generated from PollyAI's live FMCSA feeds when you open it. It reflects the current public record, not last quarter's snapshot.

Can I share a PollyIQ Report?

Yes. Send the URL to an underwriter or producer, or print the report for a meeting. One link carries the whole dossier.

Do carrier reports cost extra?

No. They are included with the $39 per month platform subscription plus your state bundles. Pricing is public on the pricing page.
